Let me introduce our Players.Ken Hogan, Trumpet
In addition to being the bandleader, Ken has perfomed locally, starting with the Finch orchestra in 2003. Ken also performs frequently with the Cisco College Concert and Jazz Band. And keeping the local tradition alive by forming the band Fanfare. Ken has also studied privately with Dr. Mark Wilcox since 2004.
Dr. Jeffrey Cottrell, Trombone Dr. Cottrell is a composition and low brass professor at Hardin Simmons Unversity, Jeff has perfomed with West Texas Jazz Orchestra, Dash Rip Rock and the Dragons, Razzmajazz Dixie Land Band, and the Dallas based Legend Brass Quintet.
Dr. Mark Wilcox, Trumpet
Dr. Wilcox is the High Brass professor at McMurry University, and has performed with the Count Basie orchestra, Doc Severinsen, Aretha Franklin, and the Oklahoma and Dayton Philharmonic Orchestras. Dr. Wilcox also performs with the West Texas Jazz Orchestra.
Adam Flores, Lead Guitar-vocals
Adam is a well know lead guitar player in the Abilene area, He has performed with Jim Sadler, and Zach Harmon locally, and just recently opened for Aaron Watson.
Cindy Stevens, Piano
Cindy is an extemely talented keyboard-synth player, in addition to playing from Fanfare, she is the pianist for the Abilene Country Club.
Kate Burke-Alvarez, Vocalist
Kate's degree in theatre arts adds to the level of performance Kate adds to the show. Her mentor is the great Ella Fitzgerald and it shows in her dramatic vocal performance. She has also performed vocals with the Harlem Boys Choir.
Larry Chavez, Bass
Larry is one of the most versatile bassist in the area. He can play in a jazz combo with an upright, and can also play electric with a driving dance beat. A truly seasoned player, Larry has played with numerous bands in the area. Larry played with the Finch orchestra for 25 years, took a short break and is back with FANFARE!
Pat Verner, Valve Trombone
Pat was in the Navy band for over 20 years and was in the NORAD band also. He has traveled and performed extensively throughout South America and the United States. His group also performed several times on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Jimmy Partin, Trombone
A long time member of the Finch Orchestra, Jimmy has also perfomed with Jack North and the Northwinds, and was also in the Texas Tech Red Raider Marching band.
Lou Voit, Clarinet-Sax
Lou has been playing all his life, growing up in New York, he has played, night clubs, dance clubs you name it Lou has probably played there. Lou was a longtime sideman in the Finch orchestra playing and singing. He is a real pleasure to hear both vocals and his reed instruments.
Lanny Finch, Percussion
One of the founding members of the Finch Orchestra, and over 35 years of professional experience, Lanny is a superb drummer that can dynamically match any venue, a small dining room to an airplane hanger, Lanny gets the job done
Keith Loyd, Percussion
Keith is currently percussion instructor at McMurry university, and principal Percussionist for the Abilene Philharmonic.Keith has performed in many venues throughout the United States and Europe.
Jimmie Roberts, Percussion
Jimmie has been a valuable part of Fanfare
for the last two years. He has played with the McMurry jazz band during his college years, and plays with the Finch Trio locally.
